The Beginning

Claire started with a folding table and a van.

In 2011, after four years working at a Portland wholesale floral house and two years as a staff designer at a national chain she’d rather not name, Claire Foliage rented a garage studio on SE Division and started taking custom orders. The first month she did six arrangements. By the end of the year she was turning down work.

The model was simple from the start: no pre-designed template arrangements, no mass-market buckets, no flowers sitting in water for a week. Every order is designed specifically for that order — occasion, palette, recipient, budget — by a designer who signs their name to the work.

Marco joined in 2016, bringing his hotel floral direction background and his obsession with tropicals. Today the studio handles everything from $45 birthday bouquets to full wedding installations at venues across the Portland metro and Willamette Valley.

Our Philosophy

Flowers should be personal.

We don’t do cookie-cutter. We ask questions before we cut a single stem. Who is receiving this? What’s the occasion? What colors do they love? What’s the vibe of the venue? The answers shape everything — flower selection, proportion, container choice, even delivery timing.

We source locally when possible, from Oregon flower farms we’ve worked with for years. During seasons when local supply is limited, we work with a small number of trusted importers who meet our quality and sustainability standards.
